How we calculate
Weight per metre (kg) = D² / 162, where D is the bar diameter in mm. Total = weight per metre x length per bar x number of bars. A standard bar is 12 m long.

Why 162?
It comes from steel density: (π/4) x 7850 kg/m³ gives about D²/162 kg per metre for D in mm.
